Astrospace Slot Machines Overview

Atmosphere / Background

We’ve played other 777igt slot machines, and one problem they have is using nondescript backgrounds in their games.

Luckily, this isn’t the case with Astrospace, which has a detailed background that perfectly reflects its intergalactic battle theme.

Behind the reels, you’ll see clusters of space rocks, spaceships flying by, and different shades of the galaxy.

The Spin and auto spin buttons are encased by robots, which shoot lasers out of their eyes when you push either. The Spin button also features a hologram projector that cycles through various symbols as you play.

Although this game isn’t based on a particular movie, the different background elements combine to present a clear story.

Music and Sound Effects

The music is a dramatic tune that reminds us of what you’ll hear on title screens of action video games.

This music does a good job of representing the seriousness of the theme, and it doesn’t get as annoying as many other slots beats.

Sound effects include: a laser when you click spin, coins adding up during wins, and dreamy and magical sounds when wins form.

These sound effects are found in other 777igt games, which is the biggest downside to this slot. But the music is powerful enough that you’re less likely to notice the cliche sounds.

Animations

One big upgrade in Astrospace from other 777igt slot machines is the animations.

These include: the white helmet putting up a holographic image, ship with fan propellers taking off, the gun spinning around and firing, the ironman helmet emitting an electromagnetic force, and a black ship flying through space.

Compare these animations to what’s commonly seen in other 777igt slot machines, which include symbols moving back and forth, balloons floating up from the screen, and coins bouncing around.

While it’s nice that 777igt games have some kind of animations, these don’t compare to the more dynamic actions of Astrospace’s symbols.

Astrospace Pay Table and Graphics

Below you can see the payouts and symbols featured in this slot machine:

X shaped Space Station Mega Jackpot

This black space station delivers the Mega Jackpot when appearing 5 times in an active pay line.

Circular Space Station Mini Jackpot

The circular space station triggers the Minor Jackpot when landing 5 times in an active line.

Black and Yellow Space Craft Minor Jackpot

Featuring yellow stripes on the top, this fighter craft pays the Minor Jackpot when appearing 5 times in a pay line.

Gun Wild

Shooting out a blue bullet, this gun substitutes for all symbols except the jackpot, bonus, and free spins icons. The gun also pays 150 coins when landing 5 times in a pay line.

Black Spaceship

The all black spaceship pays 200 coins for 5 symbols, 40 for 4, and 12 for 3.

Space Craft w / Blue Flame

Emanating a blue flame, this space craft pays 150 coins for 5 symbols, 40 for 4, and 12 for 3.

Fan propelled Space Craft

Featuring fan propellers, this ship offers 120 coins for 5 symbols, 30 for 4, and 12 for 3.

A

The A delivers 100 coins for 5 symbols, 30 for 4, and 10 for 3.

K

The K pays 80 coins for 5 symbols, 25 for 4, and 10 for 3.

Q

This letter pays 60 coins for 5 symbols, 25 for 4, and 10 for 3.

J, 10

The J and 10 both pay 50 coins for 5 symbols, 20 for 4, and 10 for 3.

Helmet w / Blue Light Scatter

Featuring a blue light in the center, this helmet offers scatter payouts when appearing 3 or more times anywhere on the reels. Scatter payouts are worth 100x 5 symbols, 30x 4 symbols, or 10x 3 symbols your total triggering bet.

White Helmet Free Spins

This helmet triggers free spins when landing 3 or more times on the reels.

Ironman Helmet Bonus

Although not an exact match, this helmet looks similar to the one worn by Tony Stark Robert Downey Jr. in the Ironman movies. It triggers a second screen bonus when appearing anywhere on the reels 3 times.

Symbol Graphics

Astrospace’s symbol graphics look excellent and serve as one of the game’s top aspects.

The best detail can be seen in the two space stations, black and yellow craft, and helmet with the blue light. It surprises us how much detail 777igt fit into each symbol.

Our only complaint is that this is another 777igt game using letters and numbers to fill out lower payouts. Space battles are a comprehensive subject, meaning there are many other symbols that could be used in place of the generic letters and numbers.

Astrospace Slot Bonus Features

Another area where Astrospace excels is its special features, including free spins, three progressive jackpots, and a bonus round. Below you can take a closer look at each of these features.

Free Spins

When you trigger free spins with 3 or more white helmets, a voice will announce the free games. You receive 15 free spins for 5 symbols, 10 for 4, and 5 for 3.

You’ll also see all of the jackpot displays vanish to make room for the free spins tally, and the reels start spinning automatically.

Other than what we’ve discussed, these free games have no other embellishments, multipliers, or new music.

Bonus Round

The second screen bonus is one of the main highlights of Astrospace because it involves destroying enemy space crafts to earn extra credits.

The scene is reminiscent of the movie Star Wars since you see the inside of your cockpit along with 5 enemy fighters out in front.

An onscreen prompt tells you to pick crafts to fire at, and you get two selections before the bonus round is over. After making your choices, your spaceship shoots a laser beam at the targets and destroys them.

The space crafts blowing up make for entertaining effects and, when combined with the detailed background, make this bonus a winner.

3 Jackpots

Jackpot hunters will be thrilled about the sizes of Astrospace’s Mega, Minor, and Mini payouts.

At the time of this writing, the Mega Jackpot is worth $1,225,045, the Minor Jackpot sits at $617,522, and the Mini Jackpot is worth $408,348.

With even the Mini progressive jackpot being worth over $400k, you have three ways to win a fortune through Astrospace.

Betting Options

You can adjust pay lines from 5 25 and coin size from $0.01 to $2.00. This makes the minimum bet a nickel and the max worth $50.00.

You change these options by clicking green buttons underneath the reels. This is a departure from other 777igt slot machines, which have annoying plus/minus buttons.

Other Options

The auto spin feature lets you automatically spin the reels for 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, or infinity spins.

You can adjust the volume by clicking the speaker button in the upper left hand corner. This features a sliding bar that offers you good control over the music and sound effects volume.

Win Frequency

The win frequency for Astrospace is above average for a 25 pay line slot machine.

Playing for around 350 spins, we earned lots of payouts thanks to the gun wild symbol. We also formed scatter payouts around once every 15 spins.

What really surprised us is how many times we triggered the second screen bonus.

We’ve played other 777igt slots where the bonus round is rare. But Astrospace is the exception since there was one point where we got this bonus twice in three spins.

Thanks to the frequency of the scatter payouts and bonuses, we ended our session with a $2 profit.

Game Rules

Astrospace features standard rules for a 5 reel slot machine, including the ones listed below:

  • Wins form in active pay lines from left to right, beginning with the leftmost reel.
  • The exception is free spin and bonus symbols, which can trigger rewards from anywhere on the reels.
  • Jackpots are only paid when respective symbols appear 5 times in an active pay line.
  • Payouts are multiplied by the triggering line stake. Here’s an example: you bet $1 per line and win 10 coins, making your payout worth $10.00.
  • Free spins are played at the triggering number of pay lines and line stake.

Comparison to Similar Slot Machines

Given that Astrospace and Aliens Z are both made by the same company, we’ve compared these two online slots below. Another game that we’ve drawn comparisons to is Arrow’s Edge’s Star Slots because it also has an intergalactic theme.

777igt’s Aliens Z Slots

This 5 reel, 50 pay line slot involves different alien species that have been cooked up by Hollywood, UFO religions, and abduction accounts.

We laughed upon opening this game and hearing music from the Ride in the Sky scene in E.T. the Extra Terrestrial. While this musical score is pleasant, it doesn’t fit the theme as well as Astrospace’s tune.

Another downside to Aliens Z is that it doesn’t have original animations. This is in stark contrast to Astrospace, which features unique animations for all its main symbols.

Aliens Z’s symbols graphics are a close match to Astrospace because they offer realistic depictions of alien species. It also has the same features, including three jackpots, free spins and a second screen bonus.

Regarding the latter, Aliens Z’s bonus sees you choose one of two black holes to fly into for a prize. While still a nice bonus round, this is another area where Astrospace reigns supreme.

That said, the defining differences between these games is Astrospace’s animations, second screen bonus, and theme appropriate music.

Arrow’s Edge’s Star Slots

This 5 reel, 20 pay line slot features a number of interesting characters that closely resemble Star Wars characters.

These include: Lance Luke Skywalker, Crystaley Princess Leia, Tobias Han Solo, Bubba Chewbacca, Krobont Darth Vader, Mercenary Boba Fett, and Evil Android storm trooper.

The music isn’t anything like what’s heard in Star Wars, but it’s still a dramatic tune that adds excitement.

The best element of Star Slots is its features, which include a spinning wild that you control, free spins, and a 3 part bonus round.

The three parts of the bonus include: training, where you hit orbs to reveal prizes; fight scene, where you choose one of four villains to fight; and space battle, where you control a target and shoot down enemy space crafts.

Star Slots’ one weakness is that the symbol graphics are nowhere near the quality of what Astrospace offers.

But Star Slots has excellent features – especially the 3 part bonus – which is why we put these games on equal footing.

Conclusion

As we’ve stressed throughout this review, Astrospace is better than the average 777igt slot machine thanks to several qualities. These include the background, music, and animations, which combine to create a memorable atmosphere.

The atmosphere sticks out through its quality space graphics, unique Spin button, and floating spaceships.

As for the animations, these actually reflect the symbols, rather than the generic animations seen in other 777igt games.

Astrospace earns top marks for their symbol graphics, which are as good as it gets in the gaming world.

We also like Astrospace’s second screen bonus, which, although as great as Star Slots’ bonus, features a fun concept of blasting enemy fighters.

One more thing to love about the bonus is the sheer volume that you trigger it along with scatter payouts. These will boost your win frequency and chances of earning a profit.

The only bad thing we can say about this slot is that the sound effects are generic. But beyond this, Astrospace scores high in a number of areas, which is why we fully recommend this slot.
