Hunting Slot Machines Overview
Atmosphere / Background
This game opens with a beautiful background that shows a castle in the
distance, river running through the middle of the screen, mill on the right, and
cottage on the left.
We were actually disappointed when the reels came into view because we
enjoyed looking at the scenery. Once the reels drop down, all you’ll see is the
cottage on the left, and a tree and bunnies on the right.
But even this small part of the background is pleasing to look at while you
play.
The atmosphere seems more fitting of a game based on Bambi, rather than
strictly hunting animals. Even still, the background has a universal appeal that
most players will enjoy.
Music and Sound Effects
The music is an accordion tune that remains us of an Italian town. While we
can’t rule out Hunting taking place in Italy, the music doesn’t match the theme
or atmosphere.
Sound effects include: magical and dreamy sounds during wins, coins adding
up, and a voice shouting out big wins and free games.
Given that these generic sounds occur in other 777igt slot machines, this is
the worst aspect of the game.
Animations
Unlike other 777igt slots, Hunting has original animations. These include: a
meat slab being sliced up, swords crossing, sliced up meat dropping down, gold
coins stacking, logs dropping down, the blue tiger batting its eyes, yellow
tiger moving its head, and balloons floating up during big wins.
Although standard for modern slot machines, Hunting’s unique animations are a
step up from most 777igt games we’ve seen.
Hunting Slot Pay Table and Graphics
Hunting features 15 symbols, with almost half of these being dedicated to
special features. Here’s a look at the special symbols along with everything
else included on Hunting’s pay table:
Shield Mega Jackpot
Featuring a skull on its front, this shield triggers
the Mega Jackpot when appearing 5 times in an active pay line.
Woodcutting Plan Minor Jackpot
Showing a saw cutting through wood, this
scroll triggers the Minor Jackpot when showing up 5 times in a line.
Tiger Mini Jackpot
Sporting a mohawk, the tiger pays the Mini Jackpot when
appearing five times in an active pay line.
Swords Wild
Used to cut the meat, these swords are wild and substitute for
everything except the jackpot, bonus, and free spin symbols.
Meat Slab
The meat slab pays 200 coins for 5 symbols, 40 for 4, and 12 for
3.
Meat Slices
The meat slices offer 150 coins for 5 symbols, 40 for 4, and 12
for 3.
Logs
This symbol pays 120 coins for 5 symbols, 30 for 4, and 12 for 3.
A
This letter pays 100 coins for 5 symbols, 30 for 4, and 10 for 3.
K
The K pays 80 coins for 5 symbols, 25 for 4, and 10 for 3.
Q
This Q offers 60 coins for 5 symbols, 25 for 4, and 10 for 3.
J, 10
The J and 10 both offer 50 coins for 5 symbols, 20 for 4, and 10 for
3.
White Tiger Scatter
Also featuring a mohawk, the white tiger delivers
scatter payouts that are multiplied by your total triggering bet. Scatter
payouts include 100x 5 symbols, 30x 4 symbols, and 5x 3 symbols your wager.
Gold Coins Free Spins
This stack of gold coins triggers free spins when
landing at least 3 times anywhere on the reels.
Quiver & Arrows Bonus
A Robin Hood style of quiver and arrows, this symbol
triggers the bonus when appearing 3 times.
Symbol Graphics
One quality that we’ve noticed across 777igt is a penchant for high quality,
realistic symbols. Hunting departs from the realism, but the symbols look just
as good.
All of these cartoonish symbols feature strong detail and go well with the
vibrant background. Our favorite symbols include the shield, woodcutting plan,
gold coins, and quiver & arrows.
Despite how good the symbols are, we do have to point out the following odd
elements:
Why is a shield the Mega Jackpot symbol? Maybe the hunters use them to fend
off close encounters with tigers, but this shouldn’t be a jackpot symbol. Why
are two symbols dedicated to cutting wood? The swords look exactly like the one
used by Link in Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda. Why are two symbols dedicated to
meat? One is already offensive enough to animal lovers. One tiger has a bluish
mohawk and fur. But we called it a white tiger because nothing else in this slot
gives off a fictional element.
Hunting Slot Bonus Features
Hunting offers a nice variety of features, including free spins, a second
screen bonus, and three progressive jackpots. Here’s a closer look at all of
these features.
Free Spins
Triggered by 3 or more gold coin stacks, you’ll receive 15 free games for 5
symbols, 10 for 4, and 5 for 3.
A voice announces free spins while the words appear across the screen in big
gold letters. Unfortunately, the theatrics end here because you don’t get to see
a different background or hear new music.
The one good thing about these free games is that they’re triggered
frequently when you play all 100 pay lines.
Bonus Round
The bonus game arms you with a sword and takes you into a meadow with 8
bushes. The goal is to select deer and rabbit to hunt with your sword while
avoiding tigers.
You earn a bonus prize for each time that you successful catch a deer or
rabbit. The round ends if you cut a bush with a tiger hiding behind it.
Interestingly enough, this looks like a real tiger, rather than the cartoon
symbols used in the main game.
One time we uncovered five animals before running into the tiger, which
earned us $35 on a triggering bet of $0.50.
3 Jackpots
Hunting is linked to 777igt’s three progressive jackpots, including the Mega,
Minor, and Mini Jackpots.
The names Minor and Mini are misleading because all three of these payouts
are huge. Below you can see how much each prize is worth at the time of this
review:
Mega Jackpot = $1,312,864 Minor Jackpot = $$661,432 Mini Jackpot = $437,625
As you can see, even the Mini Jackpot is larger than most progressive prizes
in the slots world. These three huge jackpots make every spin more exciting,
especially when the game teases you with a few jackpot symbols.
Betting Options
You can play 10 100 pay lines, and you switch the amount in increments of 10.
Coin size can be adjusted from $0.01 to $1.00.
This makes the minimum bet worth $0.01 per spin, and the max wager worth
$100.00.
To change betting options, just click the appropriate button over and over
until you reach the desired number.
Other Options
When you click Auto spin in the lower right hand corner, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50,
and infinity options will pop up.
One more option includes adjusting volume with the speaker button in the
upper left hand corner. The speaker features a sliding bar, making it easier to
get the volume exactly where you want it.
Win Frequency
After playing 100 lines on Hunting for 300 350 spins, we found the win
frequency to be below average.
What surprised us is the times where we lost 5 6 spins in a row. While this
is common in a game with 20 or 25 pay lines, it’s not good in a 100 pay line
slot.
But as is typical with 777igt slots, this game offers lots of scatter payouts
and free spins. We landed one or the other every 10 15 spins, which helped
sustain our bankroll despite the low win frequency.
Another thing that helped us was the big bonus win where we found five
animals and won $35.00.
This wasn’t enough to keep us from losing money overall since we dropped $6
in the session. But the high frequency of bonuses will prevent you from losing
too much during cold streaks.
Game Rules
The main rules for Hunting are listed below:
- Payouts are formed going from left to right, starting with the leftmost
reel.
- Exceptions include bonus and scatter payouts, which can be triggered
anywhere on the reels.
- The Mega, Minor, and Mini Jackpots only pay when their respective
symbols appear 5 times in an active pay line.
- Wins are multiplied by your coin size. If you bet $1 per line and earn
10 coins, your payout would be $10.00.
- Free games are played at the triggering coin size and number of pay
lines.
Comparison to Other Hunting Themed Slot Machines
Considering that hunting is a popular hobby, multiple online slot machines
are based on the activity. For the sake of comparisons, we’ve chosen SGS
Universal’s Hunter and Tain’s Hunting Season.
SGS Universal’s Hunter Slot Machines
This 5 reel, 9 pay line game is another one that puts a fun spin on hunting
since the symbols/animals are presented in cartoon fashion. Not only this, but
most of the animals have smiles on their faces.
While not the worst symbols we’ve seen, the graphics don’t come close to
matching Hunting’s visuals. The duck, hunter, rabbit, and target especially show
how far apart these symbols are from what Hunting offers.
Hunter also falls short in the background department since it features tall
grass, the sky at dawn, and ducks flying in the distance. This combination
doesn’t look terrible, but it’s boring in comparison to Hunting.
As for features, Hunter offers scatter payouts and a bonus round, which is
triggered by 3 hunter scatter symbols. Neither scatters nor the bonus are
triggered with the same frequency as in Hunting.
You’ll know right away when you open Hunter and see the background & symbols
that this is a low quality slot. We suggest that you stick with Hunting or the
next game we’re going to cover.
Tain’s Hunting Season Slot Machines
Unlike Hunter and Hunting, this 5 reel, 20 pay line slot offers a realistic
take on hunting.
The graphics are solid enough to bring out detail in the bear trap, boar’s
head, hound, hunter, hunting knife, and shotgun shells.
The hunter is a jackpot symbol, while the boar triggers a second screen
bonus. This bonus round sees you / the hunter shoot at targets in hopes of
winning extra credits.
One thing we don’t get about Hunting Season is that it takes place inside a
fireplace, with the reels in front of the opening and stone outlining the
screen.
Maybe this represents a hunter sitting by the fireplace after a big hunt, but
it doesn’t feel right in this game.
In most categories, Hunting Season compares well to 777igt’s Hunting. But due
to the weird atmosphere/background, we place Hunting Season on a lower rung.
Despite the fireplace atmosphere, we still recommend trying this game when
you get bored of Hunting.
Conclusion
The great thing about Hunting is that you don’t have to be a hunter to
appreciate this game – you just have to be tolerable of the sport.
The cartoon graphics, quirky symbols, and stellar background make this game
appeal to a broad range of players.
Hunting’s background is as good as you’ll find in the slots world since it
combines great graphics with a nice rural scene. Although not totally indicative
of hunting, the atmosphere is good enough that we’ll give it a pass here.
One thing we don’t like about Hunting is its accordion music. If this were a
slot machine about Italy, it would be acceptable – but it’s about hunting.
We outlined several odd things about this game in the Symbol Graphics
section, including multiple symbols based on wood cutting and meat, and the Mega
Jackpot symbol being a shield. These aren’t deal breakers, but they’re odd
aspects to what’s a good slot overall.
Again, if you have no problem with this sport, then you’ll enjoy Hunting
regardless of if you’ve ever shot an animal in your life.
